Sony: PSP 3000 battery life is the same as the current PSP

Sony’s John Koller has corrected himself over comments that the PSP 3000 will feature a shorter battery life. Koller now stated that the “our engineers in Japan worked to reduce the power consumption of the overall system including its components, so you won’t have to worry about losing any time when enjoying the more vibrant visuals displayed with the new PSP.”

SCEE to release some downloadable PSP games on UMD

SCEE has revealed that it is to release compilation UMD’s containing 3 PSP games that are currently available to download from the PSN. One compilation is called the “PLAYSTATION Network Collection – Power pack”, it contains flOw, Beats and Syphon Filter: Combat Ops. The other is the “PLAYSTATION Network Collection – Puzzle pack” which contains Lemmings, Go! Sudoku and Go! Puzzle. The compilations are set for release this October.

Sony: PSP isn’t in shadow of DS, we have different positioning

David Reeves has stated that Sony is very happy with its PSP line of business and is comfortable with it. He also added that the PSP isn’t in the shadow of the DS as the consoles are positioned differently with the PSP not solely about gaming only. As for thoughts of a lack of developer support, Reeves stated that the more Sony goes to publishers with the PSP, the more they are coming on board.

Sony: We have many more un-announced PSP games, it’s a shame third parties neglected it

Sony’s President of Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida denotes that Sony has many more games up its sleeve for the PSP that they haven’t announced for next year. Yoshida also admits that its really disappointing that third parties have neglected the PSP as essentially it is a lost opportunity for them.

Limited-edition LEGO Batman PS2 bundle announced

SCEA introduced a new family entertainment bundle for the PS2 system at E3 yesterday. The limited-edition LEGO Batman: The Videogame PS2 Pack will feature a copy of the game, Warner Home Video’s Justice League: The New Frontier on DVD, and a PS2 system – all for $149.99 MSRP, which represents a $30 savings for consumers if the contents were purchased separately. SCEA will also launch more than 130 new titles for PS2 system this year, totaling 10,000 PS2 titles by end of the year.

PS2 won’t drop to $99 in U.S. as demand is too high

Analysts have agreed that we won’t see the PS2 dropped to $99 in the near future in the US as the demand is still high. One analyst believes that once the PS3 it is compelling content like ‘Guitar Hero‘ and ‘Rock Band‘ that keeps the demand for PS2s up.

DIY modder creates a great Xbox One – the Xbox Mini, MS should make it!

A DIY modder has been hard at work on severely reducing the size of the original X-box and making it into a sweet little design that perhaps even Nintendo would envy. He has downsized the moterhboard and power supply and while squeezing an 80GB hard drive into the case it would seem as if he removed the DVD drive but if it is modded then it can run stuff directly off of the hard drive. All of this is housed in a glossy black finished custom case. Just recently we heard cries that there should have been a revised Xbox in similar style to the PSTwo, and this DIY solution is a great example of what could have been MS’s direct rival to the Wii.

Halo 2 is finally making its way to the PC platform after its initial 2004 release for the Xbox console.
